The Firm’s Managing Partner, Mr. Helmi Talib was assigned as the co-chairperson for the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants’ (ISCA) Taskforce to Strengthening Small and Medium-Sized Accounting Practices (SMPs) in Singapore.

With SMPs accounting for over 90% of Singapore accountancy landscape and are responsible for providing essential financial services to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), it is imperative to keep these businesses relevant and resilient amidst the rapid changes in market dynamics.

Important Updates on Sustainability Standards

Sustainability-related updates on the international reporting standards and sustainability assurance are released. Whilst implementation in Singapore isn’t yet in effect and only listed and large non-listed entities are required to adopt such measures for now, early access offers businesses a strategic advantage to prepare for a seamless transition by gradually integrating the standards into their sustainability reporting.

International Financial Reporting Standards: Sustainability Disclosure Standards S1 and S2

With the ever-growing need for sustainability reporting, the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) has released the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards to aid businesses in meeting their investors’ needs.

Proposed International Standard on Sustainability Assurance (ISSA 5000) – General Requirements for Sustainability Assurance Engagements

The proposed ISSA 5000- General Requirements for Sustainability Assurance Engagements is expected to be approved by the end of 2024. Aimed at helping businesses provide reliable and transparent sustainability disclosures, the standard will be a useful guide to boost stakeholder trust and improve decision-making amongst business leaders.
